19 | Remote Teaching with Katie Wonderly
Thank you for listening to this episode of That Music Podcast. This week I’m talking with Katie Wonderly about how she has adjusted to teaching remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Katie Wonderly is a fourth-year teacher, making music with 650 of her favorite musicians in Oklahoma City. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Music Education from Oklahoma City University in 2015 and has completed two summers of master's coursework in Kodály Pedagogy at the University of Oklahoma.
Katie is a member of The Organization of American Kodály Educators, National Association for Music Education, and the National Education Association. She was recently named the 2020 Putnam City District Teacher of the Year.
Katie connects with educators and community members through social media platforms under the username, Ms. Wonderly Makes Music (@mswonderlymakesmusic). She is known for innovatively sharing her journey as a young music educator, featuring favorite resources, classroom decor, lesson ideas, tech tips, and more. Through these platforms, she has been able to share and collaborate with educators across the world.
Katie believes every classroom should be a place where creativity, community, and diversity are embraced and encouraged. She strives to teach in a way that ensures every student leaves her room knowing their voice matters, and that they are an essential part of the ensemble.
